Frequently asked questions.
What is a historical VAT or GST identifier liability?
When a business sells to customers across tax jurisdictions, each transaction requires a valid VAT or GST identifier to be compliant. Records accumulate over the years, and identifiers expire, change, or were never captured correctly in the first place. We identify every problematic record, grade it by recovery probability, and pursue each one through the appropriate channel for its jurisdiction.
What kinds of companies do you work with?
We work with global businesses, typically B2B SaaS, with 1,000+ customer records and a historical VAT or GST identifier gap. Additionally, any buyer, seller, or restructuring party whose diligence has identified indirect tax liability in the target's records, where the deal team needs that exposure scoped and quantified before close.
What is your minimum engagement size?
We take on engagements with datasets of at least 1,000 records. Below that threshold, the recoverable value does not justify the investment. If you are not certain whether you meet it, the research phase will tell you.
How do you price your work?
Pricing is built on three inputs: a setup fee, a per-record data preparation charge, and a per-tier processing fee based on how each record is recovered. Every record is graded before we commit to a price, and the price is transparent before the engagement begins. We do not price on a percentage of recovery for VAT ID engagements.
What is the timeline for a typical engagement?
Most engagements run 60 to 90 days from data receipt to delivery. The research phase runs first and takes approximately two weeks. Recovery follows in tiers, with automated records resolved earliest and outreach-dependent records running through the full timeline.
Which geographies do you cover?
Our engagements cover any jurisdiction where VAT ID recovery or indirect tax liability resolution is applicable. We start with the jurisdictions represented in your data and prioritize by mandate status and recovery likelihood.
What happens to our data during the engagement?
Your data is held under a Data Processing Agreement and handled by a restricted team. Transaction records are deleted within 30 days of engagement completion. We do not sell, share, or retain client data outside the scope of the engagement.
What does the research phase produce?
The research phase produces a summary of your record count, tier mix, grade distribution, and estimated recovery value. It gives you the information you need to decide whether to proceed before you commit to the full engagement fee.
We already work with a Big 4 firm. How does Axis Mundi Technologies fit alongside that relationship?
Large advisory firms identify the exposure at the strategy level but do not run the record-by-record recovery work. Axis Mundi Technologies runs that work. In several of our channel relationships, we operate as a specialist alongside or through the referring firm, delivering what the referring firm does not do in-house.
What triggers a VAT ID or indirect tax liability in our records?
A VAT ID liability exists when a customer or vendor record carries an invalid, missing, expired, or unverifiable VAT ID in a jurisdiction where that ID is required for compliance. An indirect tax liability exists when historical transactions carry a tax treatment that was incorrect and now carries exposure under a current or upcoming mandate. The research phase identifies both.
